Monday(20100830): Write a list of at least 10 reasons why I haven’t perused or achieved what I want. Using a black marker, scratch out each excuse until I can’t see them anymore.
afraid of failure not smart enough not a good enough storyteller unoriginal no time not disciplined afraid of success afraid of ridicule too lazy waste time on side issues
As of this morning I have set aside three hours a day in which I can work on nothing not directly productive to writing. I wrote 527 original words. I did a bit of story research. I did a very brief character sketch.
I figured out that if I write 250 words a day (which I know I can do) in one year that would be 89,000 words which is the size of one of Ilona Andrews books.
I say this in seriousness, as a friend, and with no mockery intended- are you sure this post isn't a little ironic? I mean if your goal is to write, edit and submit a novel, at least consider whether posting a list of excuses is a step in that direction or a distraction from it.
Doug: I understand your point and it is well taken. The other half of this assignment will be to write statements refuting each excuse which will be for next week. but you couldn't know that.
(Does that remove some of the irony?)
:)
And I listen to everything you say with or without irony. I always find something useful.
Rosidah Abidin: I will be by shortly to take a look. And there are no rights and wrongs with any of this. There is just doing towards your own personal goal.

I am impressed. You did lots.

That dilutes the irony anyway. Either way, I'm wishing you the best with the novel.
Actually, Doug. This was an eye opening exercise for me. When I wrote my excuses down, I saw them for the false road blocks they are.
I finally manage to write a post for my assignments. Don't know, if I have made it right. Thanks again, Nessa.
