Tuesday (20100831): Write “I am a …” 10 times based on the sentence from Sunday.
In doing the declarative statement for how you want you dream to play out, ‘they” tell you to be over the top. So here is my statement times ten (I wrote these out by hand in my journal):
1. I am a New York Times #1 Best Selling author of multiple novels making millions of dollars.
2. I am a New York Times #1 Best Selling author of multiple novels making millions of dollars.
3. I am a New York Times #1 Best Selling author of multiple novels making millions of dollars.
4. I am a New York Times #1 Best Selling author of multiple novels making millions of dollars.
5. I am a New York Times #1 Best Selling author of multiple novels making millions of dollars.
6.I am a New York Times #1 Best Selling author of multiple novels making millions of dollars.
7. I am a New York Times #1 Best Selling author of multiple novels making millions of dollars.
8. I am a New York Times #1 Best Selling author of multiple novels making millions of dollars.
9. I am a New York Times #1 Best Selling author of multiple novels making millions of dollars.
10. I am a New York Times #1 Best Selling author of multiple novels making millions of dollars.
Wednesday (20100901): Write a list of 10 things I am willing to give up to achieve this goal.
This was hard since I don’t like to give anything up. *pouty face*
Things I am willing to give up until my novel is submitted:
- Reading other peoples novels
- Dusting, vacuuming, laundry J
- Favorite TV shows
- Arts & crafts (this actually is about 7 or 8 things)
- Naps
- Blogging time (I am groaning and whining right now.)
- Zero Day projects (this is about 11 things)
- Working at my job through my lunch hour
- Socializing (yeah, like I do much of that)
- Photography (I had to make it ten.)
In a comment reply to Quilly yesterday (who has already dedicated 3 hours a day to her novel) I said that if you write 250 words a day (which is a small blog post) you’d have 96,000 words in a year. That’s a respectable size novel.
I already have a story done, the basics of which I like (from my 2006 NaNo) and that is the story I am working on as my first submission. It really needs to be rewritten, so I am pulling it apart to write a basic outline of the story and I am listing all of my bazillion characters.
4 comments:
1-3) I have given up 3 hours
2.) I do not look at my email during those 3 hours
3.) I do not answer the telephone during those 3 hours
4-5) my twice weekly morning coffee stop at Criminal Coffee to visit with Ramona.
6.) whatever distraction tries to pull me away from my writing time
7.) a spotless house
8.) leisurely baths
9.) some blogging
10.) time in my garden
Quilly: We do spend a huge amount of time playing (distracting ourselves - procrastinating) on our computers, don't we?
:)
Great points! I have to admit that I couldn't think up of any activities to give up so far :p. But, I will try to think over a list.
Rosidah Abidin: I had a really hard time thinking my list up.
